Impact of a binary black hole on its outer circumbinary disc

چکیده
ABSTRACT Accreting supermassive binary black holes (SMBBHs) are potential targets for multimessenger astronomy as they emit gravitational waves (GW) while their environment emits electromagnetic (EM) waves. In order to get the most out of a joint GW–EM detection we first need obtain theoretically predicted EM signals unambiguously linked BBHs. that respect, this is series papers dedicated accreting pre-merger BBHs and associated observables. Here, extend our Numerical Observatory Violent systems, e-NOVAs, any space–time. Unlike previous studies, almost exclusively focused on inner regions, investigated impact BBH its outer circumbinary disc, located in radiation (or wave) zone, after implementing an approximate analytical space–time spinning, inspiralling e-NOVAs. We follow formation weak spiral structure disc density arising from retardation effects zone metric. Simulation data then post-processed with general-relativistic ray-tracing code incorporating same space–time, assuming SMBBH sources. The creates small $({\lt }1{{\ \rm per\ cent}})$ but unambiguous modulation light curve at semi-orbital period. This signal, although weak, fundamentally different axisymmetric around single BH providing lower limit disc. difference being found, study how parameters find optimal case which high source inclination mass ratio (from 0.1 1).

Response of a circumbinary accretion disc to black hole mass loss
We investigate the evolution of the surface density of a circumbinary accretion disc after the mass loss induced by the merger of two supermassive black holes. We first introduce an analytical model, under the assumption of a disc composed of test particles, to derive the surface density evolution of the disc following the mass loss. The model predicts the formation of sharp density peaks in th...
متن کاملEvolution of black-hole intermediate-mass X-ray binaries: the influence of a circumbinary disc
Justham, Rappaport & Podsiadlowski (2006) recently suggested that black-hole lowmass X-ray binaries (BHLMXBs) with short orbital periods may have evolved from black-hole intermediate-mass X-ray binaries (BHIMXBs). In their model the secondaries in BHIMXBs are assumed to possess anomalously high magnetic fields, so that magnetic braking can lead to substantial loss of angular momentum. In this p...
متن کامل6752 hiding a double black hole binary in its core ?
NGC6752 hosts in its halo PSR J1911-5958A, a newly discovered binary millisecond pulsar which is the most distant pulsar ever known from the core of a globular cluster. Interestingly, its recycling history seems in conflict with a scenario of ejection resulting from ordinary stellar dynamical encounters. A scattering event off a binary system of two black holes with masses in the range of 3 − 5...
متن کاملBlack Hole Binary Dynamics
We discuss a new N-body simulation method for studying black hole binary dynamics. This method avoids previous numerical problems due to large mass ratios and trapped orbits with short periods. A treatment of relativistic effects is included when the associated time-scale becomes small. Preliminary results with up to N = 2.4×10 particles are obtained showing systematic eccentricity growth until...
متن کاملBinary black hole mergers
www.physicstoday.org After decades of effort, numerical relativists can now simulate the inspiral and merger of two black holes orbiting each other. That computational triumph has come none too soon—physicists are on the verge of detecting gravitational waves for the first time, and at long last they know what to look for. Black holes are strong-field objects whose properties are governed by Ei...
